IUCN REDLIST status
Recognisable by their unsightly physique and wide gular sacs, Marabou Storks belong to the same family as storks but behave more like vultures, eating mainly carrion spotted as they soar through the sky.
They nest in colonies of up to several hundred couples. Young are born in the dry season when there are plenty of mammal carcasses due to the lack of water and its impact on their environment.
