IUCN REDLIST status
This is the smallest species of swan.
The male builds the nest from a mass of plants on a site beside the water or on a small island, hidden by tall grass and reeds. He defends it vigorously against those who intrude upon his territory. Male and females mate for life.
Coscoroba Swans derive their name from a phonetic transcription of their loud cry, ‘cos-co-roo’.
