The website of Palmyre Conservation is online!

For more than 20 years, La Palmyre Zoo has been helping to preserve biodiversity by supporting conservation programs around the world. Last year, we created our endowment fund, Palmyre Conservation, to strengthen our action to protect endangered wildlife species and their natural habitats.

Palmyre Conservation currently supports about twenty conservation programs in South America, Africa, Madagascar, Asia and France. Most of the time, we build long-term partnerships (we've been supporting most of our partners for more than 10 years!) through a financial assistance, a know-how and/or logistics support.

The activities carried out by these projects relate to different but complementary fields such as habitat protection, the fight against poaching and illegal activities, the mitigation of human-animal conflicts, reforestation, the creation of protected areas, the reintroduction or translocation of animals, the development of alternative and sustainable sources of income for local communities, the education of populations...

For example, in Madagascar, HELPSIMUS trains the villagers in better agricultural practices to limit the forest clearing and thus preserve the habitat of lemurs.

In Borneo, to reduce conflicts between elephants and locals (whose crops are sometimes destroyed by the animals), HUTAN installs electric fences and scaring sound systems.

In South Africa, the SANCCOB rescues the African penguin chicks abandoned by their parents because they were born a little too late in the breeding season, raises them in its facilities before releasing them on the colonies once their plumage is complete, thus strengthening the wild population of this endangered species.

You will find on the website most of the programs we support as well as the latest news from the field.

We are currently developing new partnerships which will soon be featured on the website.

You can help us fund these programs by donating to Palmyre Conservation: 100% of the donations we receive go directly to the programs in the field.
