IUCN REDLIST status
Like other macaws, Scarlet Macaws live in groups made up of several couples, most of whom mate for life.
The female incubates the eggs while the male feeds her by regurgitating food. The young are born featherless and blind. Their first feathers appear after about 3 weeks. They leave the nest after 3–4 months but remain close to their parents until they have attained sexual maturity.
