The VigiLIFE association carries out scientific expeditions within threatened ecosystems in order to study the biodiversity and to determine the priority areas with a view to its effective conservation.
The method developed by VigiLIFE uses technologies based upon the study of environmental DNA which allow the identification of the species present in the environment from a simple water sample.
To enable a sustainable management of natural ressources, VigiLIFE also develops permaculture centers, created and managed in collaboration with the local populations. Permaculture is based on 3 key principles: caring for the Earth, caring for people and sharing resources equitably.
The Zoo de La Palmyre has helped finance VigiLIFE since 2018.
