Movement in our chimp group! (part 2)

Transfers of chimpanzees from a zoo to another can be challenging (chimps are very sensitive to stress and can be very aggressive to one another). That's why we have proceeded very gradually to give Homer enough time to get used both to his new keepers and his new living place.
 
A few weeks after Homer's arrival, we moved Lily next to him but in a separate cage without any visual contact. As the mother-infant bond continues several years after birth, Lily's 2-year-old son Sanaga was of course moved close to Homer with his mother.
 
A few days later we started the introduction process between these 3 individuals. The first contact was a protected contact, meaning that the individuals had limited physical contact through a mesh-wall.
